Some people feel nothing when inserting acupuncture needles, others may feel some sensation. Acupuncture points are precisely located and the feeling can vary from person to person. There is often an emotional character associated with pain, this is natural but may make the sensation more subjective. If it’s your first time with acupuncture, we’ll take it slow and steady, so no surprises! There are a number of things we can do in the clinic to help if you are feeling apprehensive – just let your acupuncturist know. Most people find that it doesn’t feel like they expected!

New Brunswick is one of only 3 provinces/territories in Canada that do not have specific regulation for acupuncture, yet. There is no College like there is for medical doctors. Prior to moving to New Brunswick, I was registered with the Quebec College of Acupuncturists from 2019 – 2026. I am currently a registered acupuncturist with the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada (CMAAC) – a pan-canadian organisation that verifies credentials. I am also involved with the Martime Association of Registered Acupuncturists (MARA) in their activities.

AcuVitae is a private clinic and not covered by provincial health insurance programs. Many insurance policies cover acupuncture treatments, for example, federal and provincial employee plans, Veterans, MedaVie BlueCross. Receipts for insurance claims are available.

You need to check with your health insurance provider before your treatment to see if you are covered for acupuncture in your policy.
